Scouts

Scouts aims to build and develop young people’s confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging them to explore their beliefs and attitudes and be creative.  It offers them the independence to put these skills into practice at camps and even on international trips.

Scouts are encouraged to work together and take the lead on all sorts of projects, from community based work to planning games and activities for their meetings.

At Sheerwater we enjoy games, learning new skills and putting them into practice through a range of activities (air rifle shooting, climbing, expedition hikes, survival skills and many more!) and working towards an arm full of badges!

  • Our Scout troop (10½-14) meets Wednesdays from 7.15-9pm
  • Led by Susan, Tom, Tiggy and Ian.
  • We welcome parents to help out through a rota system.
  • The parent rep role is vacant.

We go on sleepovers and camps throughout the year as a troop, for hike contests against other local troops, as well as sometimes joining with the wider group and other troops in the district for bigger events.

After Scouts, many go on to Explorers (14-18). Woking district has one explorer group based in nearby Pyrford.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
